35 + Alumni, along with a host of parents, friends and family ranging from the 1990 to 2007 eras participated in or attended the 3rd Annual Alumni Basketball Extravaganza.

The day was set up with a long warm-up period(to stretch the “more experienced” muscles,) from 10 am until 11 am, when the Alumni Girls tipped off against this year’s Varsity. Recent grads Markie Fitzgerald, Jessica Colliver, Shannon Threlkeld, and Annette Oggletree (all 2007) headlined a remarkably deep Alumni team. Also playing were Marilyn Ordorica and Hanna Lindahl from the class of 2006, Cailin Threlkeld, Dallice Wood and Morgan Kernaghan from the class of 2003, Molly Lindahl from the class of 2002, and Meghan McClymont from the class of 2001. This group was coached by Athletic Director Eileen Bryson.

The Varsity girls were initially intimidated by this deep team, but when Alli Babb and Amanda Muller both of the class of 2006 were unable to play, and Erica Parker and Emily Musgrave (04) couldn’t attend, they relaxed and rolled up an easy victory on the Alumni.

The Varsity boys took on the Alumni next, and faced quite a challenge. Due to the Holiday vacation, the Varsity were shorthanded, and had to call up some younger players. The talented Alumni team were Todd Snider, Jeremy Agundes, and Derrick Emigh (2007); Brock Kernaghan, Eric Avery, and Joey King (2006); Jake Dean and Kyle Barram (2005), Keegan Lucchesi and John McClymont (2004); and Adam Ehrensvard (2001). This group was coached by long time JV Coach, Al Schnieder.

The Varsity kept it close for a while, but the deeper Alumni team took control late, and didn’t let up.

Following this game, there was a 3-point contest, and Kyle Barram(05) and Christina Ordorica (09) prevailed.

Finally, the day ended with a co-ed, alumni vs. alumni game: Odd year grads vs. Even year grads. Joining the above mentioned Alumni were Craig Heffernan (97) and the very old man of the group, Jim Weber(90). The Odd year team was tricked into allowing Heffernan to play with the Evens, and the game went down to the wire, with the Odds pulling out a last second victory.

In all, a good day was had by all, and there are hopes for an even greater success next year.
