Athletic Director’s Message

Welcome to the Mercy High School Athletics page!

The Athletics Department at MHS addresses the school mission in a variety of ways. The objective of the school is to develop the whole person through a nurturing environment in the areas of spiritual and moral formation, intellectual, personal, social, physical and aesthetic development. Sports and athletic competition are an excellent venue for development in all of these areas, from the drive and determination necessary to run in track, to the focus needed to sink a putt in golf. Athletics at Mercy High School strive to allow students to learn sportsmanship, practice decision-making skills, work together, and showcase talents. It is truly a key facet in the building of our tight-knit family atmosphere.

Mercy has a long tradition of student participation in sports. In recent years, student participation in at least one sport has reached 95%. Teams and individuals from various sports throughout the decades have won or competed for section and state championships. It is also quite common for our teams to receive special designation from NCIF for high grade point averages. For example, in 2006, our softball team was awarded Academic State Champions and they made the playoffs!

As a product of the Mercy High School Athletics Department (All League Skiing ’88, ’90; Baseball ’90), it is very exciting to be involved in the day to day managing of our teams, coaches, and athletes. My experiences as a student athlete at MHS have lead me to have a life-long love of sports, and hopefully, I can help foster that in our Mercy community.
